General Questions

RecycleForGood connects households that have 10c drink containers with local collectors who want to pick them up, return them through the official container deposit scheme, and earn the refunds. Households get clear bins and less hassle; collectors get safe, small jobs close to home.

We charge a flat $7 annual fee per address to cover the cost of running the platform – things like servers, safety checks and support. This lets us keep the app free for collectors, so people doing it tough can keep 100% of the 10c refunds from your containers (unless you choose an optional split).

Nothing. Collectors can sign up and use RecycleForGood for free. They earn the container refunds from each pickup and don't pay any subscription or commission to the platform.

Yes, if you want to. When you post a pickup you can choose to:

  • Donate 100% of the refund to the collector, or
  • Keep a small share (for example 10–20%) and let the collector keep the rest.

If you're mainly using RecycleForGood for convenience and social impact, you can simply let collectors keep the full refund.

  1. You bag up your eligible 10c containers.
  2. You create a pickup request in the app or on the site (rough quantity, location, preferred time).
  3. A nearby verified collector accepts the job and comes at the agreed time.
  4. They take the containers to a return point and receive the refund (and any agreed split for you).

No. RecycleForGood does not run the container deposit schemes. We work on top of existing programs like Return and Earn and Containers for Change by making it easier for containers to reach official refund points instead of going into red‑lid bins or litter.

Collectors can be:

  • People experiencing homelessness or financial stress
  • Students, job‑seekers, and low‑income earners
  • Community‑group volunteers raising funds

All collectors create a profile and agree to our code of conduct. In some areas we may also partner with local charities to help verify and support collectors.

You stay in control. You only post a pickup when you're comfortable, you choose where the bags are left (e.g. outside your door, at the front gate, in the bin area), and you don't have to hand anything over in person. Collectors agree to behavioural rules, and you can rate and report any issues so we can follow up.

The same as your local 10c container deposit scheme: typically most aluminium cans, small plastic and glass drink bottles, and some cartons. The app will include a quick guide and links to your state's eligibility list so you can check before posting.

That's fine. You can:

  • Wait until you've filled a bag or box, or
  • Post smaller loads if there are active collectors nearby.

Even small amounts help – every bag is less in your bin and more value in a local collector's pocket.

RecycleForGood is for people who:

  • Don't have space to store containers
  • Don't have time or transport to get to refund points
  • Want their containers to support people doing it tough

If you're happy returning containers yourself, keep doing that. If you'd like your cans to become direct support for someone local with minimal effort, we're here for you.

We only collect the information we need to run the service: basic contact details, your address for pickups, and usage data. We don't sell your data. Location and personal details are protected in line with Australian privacy laws, and you can request deletion of your account at any time.
